Betrayal [Open]

[Mara Ackart]

Plot: Mara betrays Sulley and defects to the Dreamers.

Character Changes: Nothing too major. Mara's loyalty to Sulley is still there but to a much lesser extent than usual.

Time Period: Some point in the indeterminate future in the evening just before sun set.

Setting: Near the Cell Blocks

If it weren't for the fact that it was all too vivid in her memory Mara would have thought that the day's events were just a dream. It had only been one more kill but something about it had bothered Mara to the point that she'd stormed away before the deed had been done. All the killing and fierceness hadn't gotten her an inch closer to the men she wanted dead. So she'd done the one thing she'd never thought she'd do. She betrayed Sulley and left The Rebellion behind.

She'd spent a lot of time after that just running. The opportunity to think that it provided was a welcome one. Mara still felt some loyalty to Sulley. He'd made her strong and to be completely honest with herself she still cared about him a lot. But frustration at not getting out and the stress of helping run a rebellion that had yet to see a single decisive victory had taken it's toll. It had made her question. The questions left linger doubts in her mind and those ate away at her until she'd run off.

Now she was trying to find some member of The Dreamers or another. It would take some major explaining but she intended to join them. She needed to leave the chaos that was The Rebellion behind and the best place to do that seemed like The Dreamers. She would never give up her grudge or stop wanting to leave the place but at least she could pretend to be happy. That seemed to be the best possible outcome she could hope for. The only other alternative was death and/or extremely harsh punishment at Sulley's own hands. That would probably still happen in fact. Mara simply hoped she could avoid him and any other Rebellion members he might send to track her down.
