Skinny-dipping hadn't exactly been the number one thing to try on Curtis' list. But when you still hadn't located the town that you didn't know excisted, there was no other way to stay clean. Or as clean as possible that is.
The boy had left his Jumpsuit thing on the shore, in a place that mud wasn't luckily. And taking a look around to make sure no other mutants were around, he quickly slipped into the lake. The water had such a calming effect on Curtis' unbandaged wounds. Scabbed over now at least. He couldn't help but sigh out of content. He wadded through the water looking at the fake moon above with a light blink before getting to buisness.
As Curtis cleaned himself he lightly hummed to the last song he'd heard before getting locked away. " The times are a-changing " by Bob Dylan. As a hum turned into a mumble, and the mumble into a deep but clear voice he rolled his shoulders content to sit here and stay around the lake, while avoiding any mutants that came by. He could always find some fruit in the forest.
Yeah avoid the mutants! Never let anyone notice your around anymore!
But he didn't realize someone was already nearby.

The lake was one place Mara hadn't visited yet. She'd sat at the side of the river that fed it with Sulley recently. It had made her curious as to just where the river went to. So when she'd been in the area next she jogged alongside the river until she'd come to the lake. It was a nice quiet time. Mara's mind was clear and a rare true smile lingered on her lips as she jogged peacefully.
As she came around a bend she noticed someone in the lake. From what she could see it was a young man. Mara smirked lightly and came to a stop at a comfortable distance. She waited silently for him to notice her.

Curtis wasn't really paying attention to what was around him. Lightly he yawned stretching his arms out as he turned to get back to the shore. He had just exited the water as he noticed someone standing not to far away. In the moonlight he noticed it was a woman.
Now this was bad on two accounts. One, since he wanted to avoid mutants that were potentially dangerous. And Two, because he was still nude. With a yelp of suprise, Curtis covered his man hood before running back to the edger of the trees. Quickly he pulled on the pants part of the suit before tying the sleeves around his waist before he dared turn to look at her.
" Who are you? " he asked hesitantly as he looked at the tall woman. Attractive yes and she'd probably seen it.
Well at least he had nothing ot be ashamed about in his point of view.

Mara chortled with amusement at his reaction to her being there. She waited to look him over until after he had clothed himself. She came to the conclusion that he wasn't bad looking for a kid. Why were all the new ones jumpy? Truthfully she had no room to talk considering that she treated every mutant she met as a possible threat.
"Relax," she said with a dismissive tone, "I'm not here to hurt you. My name is Mara."
She located a rock nearby and went and sat down. It couldn't hurt to figure this guy out. Her mental file of mutants was growing and every mutant she met and added to it increased her chances of surviving this place that much more. She waved her hand at a rock across from hers.
"Come sit down."

As Curtis blushed, embarressed he glanced at her. He heard her speak trying to calm him down. That seemed to ease his tension a bit. Considering that if she was a threat, she would have attacked him already. Curtis didn't know why but he found himself sitting on the rock across from her. " Who are you? " he asked timidly.
Ever so slightly he pushed his hand through his wet hair as he watched her waiting for a hint of any movement. He blinked rubbing his tattoo before glancing back at her face.

Mara sighed. Jeez these young ones were skittish. You'd have thought that she was a wolf and he a deer settling down for a talk before dinner. She pinched the bridge of her nose for a moment.
"M. A. R. A. Mara. Or weren't you listening?" she replied to his question, "I'm sure you've got a name kid. What is it?"
In her head Mara labeled him as Fawn until she got his name. He was as skittish as a baby deer. She supposed it was a natural response to the situation but for goodness sakes weren't there any kids around here with a backbone?

As she spelt out her name and pretty much insulted him, Curtis grimaced before scowling lightly. " Curtis... Curtis Kane. " he said quietly. The Native American boy rubbed his arms lightly as he looked at her. " I'm new... They caught me... Not to long ago. " he didn't know how long it had been. For all he knew he could have been out for days maybe weeks. And on top of that, they might have been extending or shortening days. " So... Your a mutant?... " he asked quietly as he brown eyes examined her.

Mara chuckled. There was more to him than fear! That was good. Or bad depending on how you looked at it. It made him more interesting but it also made him more difficult to manipulate if she ever needed to.
"Well Curtis welcome to mutant jail!" Mara said with a sweep of her hand to indicate the land around them, "There are a lot of us here but there is plenty of room. Still places to be alone in and what not. Our hosts aren't too friendly but then again neither are some of the inmates either."
Mara stretched for a moment or two and returned his examining stare with one of her own.
"Yes I'm a mutant. I wouldn't be here if I weren't. The only humans here are the guards. Apparently they haven't met a human bad enough yet to be thrown in with us."
Mara had adopted a rule not to show off her mutation if she could avoid it. There were times when a show of power was a good thing and there were times to keep quiet. Mara tended to err on the side of quiet.

" Mutant jail... " he repeated to himself sourly. He didn't like the thought of hismelf beign in jail. It made him think he was a criminal. But was it a crime being born? " Well I guess thats expected. The hosts hating us and those actual criminals beign locked up in here. " He rolled his shoulders lightly. " I mean there are probably a few of us who deserved to be locked up right? Those who robbed a bank or killed someone... " He paused for a minute. " People like me... " he said quietly before looking at the ground.
" Ha and they probably never will. They treat us like animals. If you think about it putting a human in here would go down with the mutants well and the humans would think it was torture even though they judge by what people tell them. Not by what they actually know damn bastards. " Curtis lightly looked up at her running a hand through his black hair. " Can you tell me anything else about this place? "

Mara chuckled inwardly. His attitude would make him easy prey for the Rebellion to scoop up. Of course that wasn't surprising. A lot of the folks that got sent here came to the Rebellion.
"Yeah, there are some criminals here. From petty thievery to multiple murder. Of course there are good people too. The humans don't care if we've committed a crime by their laws or not. Our crime is being born different."
Mara took a moment to think before she answered his next question.
"Have you heard about the factions yet?"
That was something new people needed to know as soon as possible. Otherwise they might unwittingly run into trouble with one of them. Of course the faction most likely to cause someone trouble was the one she proudly belonged to but that didn't matter.
