Bex clapped her hands together after she tied the the last corner of the tent down. She stood back up, arching her back seeing as she was bent over for so long. She stepped back to approve her and Demetrio's handy-work. She moved to the front of the ten and pulled the entrance back, revealing a spacious inside.
She made her way toward the table her and Demetrio had brought over with them on one of their trips over. Later they piled everything on top of the table so they wouldn't get dirty. She pulled a small wrong off and brought in side the tent and laid it out. She walked back out. "Hey, Demetrio, you mind helping me with this table?"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once the tent was completely finished, Bex was quite happy. The table was on the wrong and big pillows were thrown into the corners to sit. Sure, every thing looked a little rough but it was hard to come across fine merchandise in Freakopolis. Bex was bent over some small candles, covering a lot of the table, and lit them. The sun was low in the sky now, but provided a little light streaming in but the candles also gave the tent warmth and a cozy vibe. There were bigger candles to be lit in case things got real dark.
In the middle of the table was a bowl of strawberries, picked out by one of the guests coming, Jett. Bex took a intake of breath as she thought of him and then calmed herself. She ran her hands over her purple sweater. She also donned dark jeans and black boots. She was warm enough. She took a deep breath, checking the tent one last time.
She looked to Demetrio. "Everything good? People should be here soon," she said. There was a slight frantic look in her eye and she was holding her hands to keep from shaking. She was a confident person but she wanted this party to go well, especially with all that had been going on in Freakopolis.

Finally the time had come for the party. It was Bex's brainchild and he wanted to help bring about its success, whatever it took. He and Bex had moved some basic comforts into the tent they'd put up, bringing in as many large pillows they could gather together. Demetrio nodded in approval of the results. Everything was almost ready. Perhaps one more table.
"Hey, Demetrio, you mind helping me with this table?"
Great minds think alike, he supposed. He followed Bex out of the tent and both took opposite ends. Within moments they had their table.
-------------------------------------
Done and done. Tent, tables, food. All check. Now all that they needed were people. From the guest list Bex had showed him, a good number of people were expected to attend. Demetrio was glad to be having this party. The Dreamer members were often scattered and doing their own activities. It was high time they got together to mingle again. Since non-Dreamers were also invited, it would be a chance to form and reaffirm ties to others outside the faction. And a great opportunity to just have fun.
Demetrio glanced over toward Bex to find her already staring at him. He gave an enthusiastic thumbs up in her direction. The enthusiasm didn't seem to affect the anxious look on her face. His eyes drifted down to her hands clamped together. Ah, he recognized that gesture. Silently he walked up behind his lovely second when her head was turned to check on some little detail, and pulled her back against his chest in a friendly hug. It was meant to help calm Bex's nerves. He knew she could be as confident as she pleased, but sometimes even the best could use some support. Bex would always have his.
"It's great."

Jett was hungry.
He carried his guitar by it's crude leather strap in one hand and a small bouquet of wild flowers in the other. It was obvious he'd stooped to pick them on his way over. Their stems were different lengths and because he didn't have the best eye for themes the colors varied to the point that it seemed somewhat of a mess. Not to mention there were some dead ones in the mix...
But at least his intentions were earnest. He smiled lazily as he saw the tent, though his brow furrowed when there didn't seem to be much sign of life. He figured whoever was there was in the tent. The weather outside was okay. Nice enough to be outside but not nice enough to prefer it to the warmth of a tent.
Hi toes curled as he imagined what waited from him beyond the flaps. Jett took his time approaching. He was distracted as he spotted others approaching.

Men in black. Five men hovering over his bleeding form. A bone stuck out of his skin the area around it dripping with blood. He held a bone spike tightly in his crimson stained arm. The Guards were laughing at his feeble attempt to defend himself. Curtis growled loudly as the spike was kicked out of his hand. The last thing he saw was a boot and he felt a collision.
That was the last thing he remembered. And earlier today he'd woken up only to find an invitation on his bed. No cuts or bruises. No sign of a battle. Maybe it had all been a dream. So with an insane ammoutn of hunger nawwing at his stomach. He found himself wandering towards the northern barrier in search of the tent which was supposed to hold food. He remembered RSVPing to this event before his dream sometime.
Lightly Curits spotted it. He was shirtless and in a torn pair of skinny jeans turned into shorts. He blinked his brown eyes spotting Jett. Lightly Curits looked at him before nodding. " Hi... " he mumbled extrememly lightly before he pushed his way through the flaps of the tent only to find a pair of people hugging. " I'm not intruding am I? I was told this is where the party was and the- " he cut off as his stomach growled extremely loudly. " Sorry.... I just don't.... " he paused his mind flicking to the vison of being caught by the guards again. He shook his head his thoughts spinningly like a top. " The last time ... I ate. " he put a hand on his stomach as his growled again and shushed it. " Is their enough to eat to fill this teenager body? "

Bex pulled away from Demetrio with a laugh. "No, no. I'm glad you could arrive. Your Curtis, right?" She looked to his stomach as it growled loudly and blushed in embarrassment for him. He seemed to be slightly flustered. She walked over to him and placed her hand on his arm. She looked to Demetrio. "I think Demetrio and I got you covered at least for a little bit. Help yourself to some strawberries. I know its not the most filling but maybe it can tie you over for a little while." She smiled warmly at him before noticing a figure outside. "How about you and Demetrio talk, hm?" she said before exiting the tent.
"Hello there...why don't you--" Bex said as she approached the figure. She stopped herself and smiled widely as she realized it was Jett. She hugged him briefly before taking a step back. "I'm really glad you could make it Jett. How about you come inside? Our strawberries are really good and I have your shirt," she said, talking a bit quickly. "Demetrio's inside, the leader and so is this boy I hope is Curtis because that's what I called him." She took a breath. "Sorry. I'm just a little excited." Funny thing was, she was anxious about the party. She was excited because of Jett.

Demetrio heard his stomach let out a soft gurgle as its plea for food.
'Don't you ever get full?' he answered in his head. His stomach growled again in response. With a sigh, he turned to see the new arrival.
Demetrio did not recognize the young man and wasn't sure if he had ever seen the lad before. Bex called him Curtis. Well, at least he knew the newcomer's name, if nothing else. As Bex went outside the tent he strode over to Curtis and introduced himself. The boy's growling innards could be heard over his own. He pointed over in the direction of the strawberries set out on a table.
"Care to join?" he asked with a welcoming grin. "They look rather tasty."

Liliana walked nervously to the tent before looking around for Silvia. The wolf girl had not arrived yet, this made Lily a little bit worried. The black haired girl took a deep breath and then went inside. She looked around with wide green eyes and took in everything. "Wow! This is just my style!" She said softly and unwrapped the plate plate of freshly baked cookies from the tea towel it had been in.
She walked over to the table with all the food and placed it in a random spot before trying to walk over to the cushions, but then she heard something. It was the voice of her boyfriend...this being said she hadn't seen him in a while. "Is their enough to eat to fill this teenager body?" He asked and she involuntarily giggled a little. "Hello, haven't seen you in a while Curtis..." She said before touching him on the shoulder and giving him a small smile.
An older man began to talk and Lily turned her attention to him for a moment. "Care to join? They look rather tasty." The man asked with a grin and Lily smiled softly in reply to him. "Hi, you must be Demetrio....Silvia told me a little about you." She said before taking a small cupcake and going to sit down. For once she wasn't in jeans and a t-shirt, she was in a pale blue dress that went down to the middle of her calves.

Curtis stumbled a bit as Demetrio spoke. He was famished. He put his other hand over his rock hard abs before shaking his head. " Yeah.... I'd love to join you. Fruit sounds good now anyways... " He shook his head lightly as the scene of being captured once again played through his mind. But that wasn't how he was brought to Freakopolis. Why was this scene running through his head? " Man when did December get so hot though? " Curtis felt himself say.
And then he heard it. A familiar vocie he hadn't heard in what felt like months. " Lily? " he asked his eyes widening slightly. He put his hand on hers lightly smiling before grimacing as the hunger pains hit him again. Lightly he wrapped an arm around Liliana's waist before pulling her forward as he sat down across from Demetrio. He gently pushed a strawberry into his mouth, biting off the end. He chewed before moaning out of pleasure as the food hit his hungry stomach. " Lord... why am I so damn hungry today. I ate six apples yesterday. I gathered them before the winter withered them up. "

Post by The Guard on Jan 25, 2010 14:53:26 GMT -5
Whilst the mutants began to relax and enjoy themselves a small group of guards were making their way to that same spot. They'd heard the gossip among the freaks of nature. Did those things really think they'd let them get away with having a party? The leader of this group, particularly angry sort of guard, had radioed a couple of his like minded friends to go and break up the little dream fest. All told there were three guards. The leader was called Vet by the other guards. This was because he was precisely that, a veteran of some war or another. His two accompanying guards were Rook, a big man who liked chess, and Noob.
The three men approached the tents with identical looks of disgust on their faces. Of course their helmets were on so such expression were hidden from the view of the monsters that might see them. They barged into the tent.
"Hello freaks! I hope we're not intruding!" said Vet in a snide and excited voice. His hand was already on his gun and low chuckles could be heard from Rook. Vet continued his speech.
"We heard you were having a party and thought we'd drop in to liven it up a little."
With not a word more Vet leveled his gun at the pillows and decimated the lot of them with a burst a fire. Rook took this as a sign to get to work. The man began ripping up the supports for the tent one by one while Noob went and turned over the food table.
"Why do you need a table for your food? You should eat it off of the ground like the vermin that you are." the youngest of the guard trio taunted. When all was said and done the three guards stood back and surveyed the mess they'd made. It wasn't enough. Vet and Rook grabbed the two women present and dragged them forcibly over to where Noob stood. Vet nodded to Noob and the young man grabbed his gun. The young brunette mutant codenamed Icicle he shot several times in each knee. The other, a lighter brunette codenamed Vanquish he shot in each elbow. The other two guards dropped the girls and the three walked off, well satisfied with the damage they'd done.

Bex was smiling over at Jett before she saw the Guards approach. She drew closer to them as she did, as if Jett could protect her from them. Her last encounter with a guard rang raw in her mind. She covered her ears as the gunshots protruded them, praying no one got shot. That fear filled her, made her want to vomit. She would later realize the bitter irony in that thought.
Bex held in a scream, wishing she was braver as she was pulled by one of the guards. She had escaped one of them once but it didn't seem like it was possible this time and even the first time, she was subjected to their games. She screamed when she was shot and the minute she was let go off, she fell, adding to her pain when she tried to stop her fall with her arms. She screamed again and cried. God it was painful. It felt as if her arms were disconnected at the elbows. "Lily," she called. "Lily I'm so sorry," she cried.

Everything happened too quickly. Jett was lost as his mind perceived the actions of those around them. He had been approaching the tent. Okay. He had seen familiar faces. Be'x smile had him grinning from ear to ear. And then...and then he was shoved to the side. Fear. Blinding fear. His blood had raced and his heart had pounded at such a volume that everything else was drowned out. Everything was still drowned out. There had been laughing. Nothing was funny. He was so scared.
And then a scream.
Jett snapped out of his trance and saw the women. Without thought he dropped down beside Bex and reached out to her, though his hand hovered, unsure of what he could do without adding to her pain. After hesitating, he placed his hands on Bex's face and turned her up to look at him.
"Don't think about it." He whispered as he bent closer to her, trying to help her forget the pain or where she was. He was scared, but he cared too much about her to leave. Revenge was not in his nature so chasing the guards was out of the question. Making her comfortable was first on his mind.
Lifting his head, Jett yelled at anyone.
"Get a healer. Find a mutant who can heal, for Christ's sake." Dropping his voice and leaning in one again, he stared into Bex's eyes. It was so hard. His heart ached for her and the other women. Compassion filled the man and bubbled over the top.
"Think about the strawberries, Bex. Just you and me and the strawberries. It was so sunny that day. The grass was green. It smelled distantly like mint." As he spoke his hand reached for pieces of the mutilated pillows and without looking away from her he began to make something like a bandage out of them. He held her arm tightly and began to wrap the joint to stop the bleeding. "And the river. It was a sea of diamonds that glimmered as the light hit it. Remember?"

It was all a blur to Lily, one moment she was smiling and eating something. The next she was on her knees on the floor while guards destroyed the party. Sure, when she was shot in the back of her knees it hurt...but the fact that Bex's party was ruined hurt her more. Lily automatically dropped onto her side on the floor, taking the pressure off of her knees. Then she heard Bex's voice and looked towards the other young woman.
"Lily," She heard her name called out and half sat up. "Lily I'm so sorry." She looked over at Bex and smiled a little. "Why are you apologising? Were you the one that shot me? No. Therefore you needn't apologise." She replied with a brave grin and came out of her shock quite suddenly. Up till now the pain had been numbed by said shock and she fell into it like it was a pool. She clenched her teeth and sucked in a breath, supporting herself on her arms.
"I can't heal her, but we need to keep her wounds up above her heart. It reduces the bleeding a little." Lily said and turned her head to look at her own injuries. She tore strips off of her dress and tried to stem the flow of blood. But she had a feeling that one of them wouldn't make it through the night.

Curtis blinked and everything started happening. Curtis jumped trying to pull Lily along as bullets tore through the pillows behind him. But his hands slipped. He rolled and made it behind the table only to have that kicked back making him roll backwards. He glared at the guard who had kicked the table his bones shifting under his skin as anger and fear mixed to create adrenaline.
" NO! " Curtis screamed wanting to rush to Liliana and Bex. He foudn himself un able to move. His eyes widened as he heard Bex apologize. And Lily's brave response. Then it hit him. He had RSVPed to a party in January in December. And if today was the party. Curtis stumbled leaning onto a shoulder which he found to be Demtrio's.
A month?
How could he not remember the past month.
The memory of the Guards capturing him inside Freakopolis hit him again. He blinked painfully pushing back tears. " Demtrio.... Find a healer. For gods sake find a healer. Somethings wrong... somethings... I-I h-have to get away from here. " Curtis stumbled forward not wincing as a white bone tore free out of his wrist and putruded abover his hand. Blood seeped around it. Curtis looked at Liliana his eyes blank with confusion and remorse. " I'm sorry... I'm so sorry. They'll..... They'll pay.... For this. " Curtis' words were slurred. Something was wrong with him. Slowly at first the gaining speed Curtis rushed from the ruined party in the Guards direction. He didn't go very far. About twenty feet from the tent Curtis blinked before vommiting on the ground. He wiped hism outh stumbling forward. " Damn you to hell.... You monsters. " Curtis stumbled into the forest the spike still putruding from his arm.
" Shit... " he mumbed before he leaned against a tree. Curtis slumped down to his knees. And with glazed over eyes and a dazed blink. Fell forward and lost all control of his senses.

Demetrio stood momentarily frozen as the scene unfolded around him. Everything was going to hell right before his eyes. Guards had invaded their party, the simple furnishings and food were torn to pieces, but the height of the chaos came when gunshots reached his ears. He turned quickly toward the sounds to find Bex and another female covered in blood. The only conclusion was that it was their own.
"Get a healer. Find a mutant who can heal, for Christ's sake." Yelled a familiar voice. At least someone was at Bex's side.
Still, the realization that his second had been severely injured drove him into a rage that he had not felt in years. Bex was like family to him and to see her in such a state caused him great pain. As such, this put him in the mood to make the aggressors feel much greater pain. The intention was interrupted when an unfamiliar body bumped into his and stayed there. Demetrio looked and found Curtis leaning against him.
"Demetrio.... Find a healer. For gods sake find a healer. Some thing's wrong... something's... I-I h-have to get away from here."
Demetrio scowled at Curtis' back as the young man stumbled away. Find a healer, he had said. Was he blind? David hadn't even arrived yet, so he couldn't help. David Killjoy was one of the Dreamers most skilled healers. Problem was, he was running late. Demetrio's annoyance at Curtis' words soothed as he remembered that Curtis likely hadn't even met David yet. He doubted Bex even had met him, though he guessed they might have seen each other in passing in the Dreamer HQ.
He made his way over to the side of the other woman, that he had heard Bex refer to as Lily. Jett hovered near Bex, and that raised his opinion of the young man. He may frighten easily but at least he stuck around when it counted. Demetrio knelt by Lily's side.
"Try not to move, it will only make the injuries worse."
He saw that Lily had already made some attempt to stop the bleeding at her knees. It was a good start and a promising sign that she was not blinded by the pain from her wounds. Demetrio removed his shirt and ripped it in two. He used each to add additional coverage to what Lily had already applied.
"Our healer should be on his way. Hopefully he'll arrive soon."
'David,' he added in his mind, 'hurry your ass up.'

Bex's hyperventilating slowed as Jett came beside her. What was it with this boy? He always knew just what to say. Of course, she was still in pain but as she looked at Jett and listened, she put all of herself into remembering that day with him and forgetting about the bullets that were in her elbows.
Without using her arms, she scooted herself into an upright position. She rested her head against Jett, wishing for all the world that the guards hadn't come. She looked to Lily and tried to give her a brave smile back but the feeling of doom that had come when the guards arrived hadn't left. "I should've protected you, Lily," she told her, looking down now.
It was so hard to focus. She heard Curtis leave and her first instinct was to jump to action, to somehow get him back into the tent. It wasn't a physical possibility though. The feelings of helplessness slowly worked their way through her. She watched as Demetrio went to Lily. Her guilt over the girl ebbed a bit but she knew Lily was in as much pain as she was.
Bex looked back to Jett. So many different emotions pumping through her: fear, anger, helplessness. It hurt just to think about them all. She had to calm down though, or else something would explode and that wouldn't help at all. She clenched her fists closed, gritted her teeth from the shot of extra pain and just looked at Jett, hoping his calm nature would ebb into her right now.
