Adam awoke alone in the middle of a large open plain, he was shivering, his body naked except for a black plastic sheet. He was still soaking wet from the storm before his capture, ‘Where am I?’ he thought for a moment, still sitting he brought his knees to his chest trying to conserve as much heat as he could. He looked around, his eyes still adjusting; all around him he saw nothing but a deserted field in the twilight of night. Should he find a place to sleep he thought, but then he remembered the nightmare he had of becoming a beast. That is if it was a nightmare, either way he was not keen on the idea. Instead he pulled the sheet tighter around his bare body and dropped his head between his legs.
‘I don’t understand it... Did I get tossed here in the storm? Or are the nightmares true? Am I a monster?’ the endless hopeless questions ran through Adam's head until he fell asleep, even a tear or two dropped from his cheek, but you wouldn’t have notice as he was covered in rain and sweat.

“It is evident you are new, here.” Standing over the newest addition to their prison like a mechanized Grim Reaper, Lucian had happened by him after new servitor testing had finished and he had sent his newest conflation of metal and flesh back to the cell. “Please permit me to be the first to welcome you to one of the most extensive and humane prison facilities in the United States of America. You are guilty of the crime of genetic differentiation, as we all are. For this, you have been forcibly incarcerated and sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.” The glowing, yellow lenses of Lucian’s eyes were shining brightly as they looked down upon the boy, the cylinder on his back whirring as he considered what else to add.
“You need not be afraid. You will find that there are individuals more than eager to be heroes for anyone who comes across the wrong person. I will make no attempts to deceive you; I am one of those people, to some. I do not believe it justified as, despite having been attacked by the same mentally unstable being twice, I have harmed none. But, that is not the present subject. It is though a safe assumption that it would be within your best interests to integrate yourself with the society, though I do not understand why you would in this case. They are a violent, over-emotional group, and you will quickly find yourself becoming one of them.” Lucian moved the larger of his two arms, the claws on it contracting slightly.
“That said, it has been an honor to be the first to welcome you to your new, permanent residence. I am Lucian. If there is anything further with which you need assistance, now is the time to ask.” Lucian took a few steps back, now utterly silent, awaiting an answer from his subject.

“No…….no,” Adam shook his head and started edging backward; he was still in his sitting position on the cold ground. “I am not like you, I don’t have a difference… there has been a mistake… I am normal…” he protested, he was scared, who wouldn’t be? The robed machine’s words seemed safe, but how could he trust him. How could he trust a monster? His mind panicked, he had forgotten all about his nightmare of transforming into a beast himself, the situation was too real for him. He got up, with plastic sheet and all, and made for a sprint. He needed to get away; he needed to find someone normal, someone like him. Not even for a second did he turn around, he wasn’t sure what cloaked figure would do, but he wasn’t going to wait and find out.
Shhheeehh, his foot slid on the grass and he went crashing to the floor. He had made some distance he hoped, but was he safe. He pushed his arms out to turn around, and looked back in the direction from where he had run. What fate awaits the young hero, and how long until he accepts the truth…

Silvia shook her head as the dizziness swept over her again. Her chocolate tresses fell in curly waves and she sat down in the middle of a field. It was dark out, exactly why she'd come out here. Even if it was dark it helped with the dizziness. The brighter it was, the dizzy spells became more frequent. She looked indifferently around at Lucian and some man in a sheet. Why God? Why did she have to run into males everytime she breathed?!
She felt no guilt for eavesdropping, why would she? He was protesting for all to hear. “I am not like you, I don’t have a difference… there has been a mistake… I am normal…” he said and she frowned at once. Great, another whining one. But she still found it amusing, so much so that she started laughing as hard as she could. The male bolted before slipping and falling flat on his face.
He was running in her direction, not that he knew that though. He probably couldn't see her. She had quieted down now as he came closer. She had her eyes closed until she spoke, hoping to catch him offguard. "If you're normal then why did they take you out of normal society and shove you in here with the Graveyard Monster huh?" She asked with a slightly curious vioce.
"My name is Silvia, but they call me Fang. You are?" She said again before standing up. She picked up a rock and tossed it up and down in her palm before catching it and listening for something. She truned away from the male and listened again. She threw the rock as hard as she could and it struck something fleshy. "Don't worry you stupid human, the Graveyard Monster is not going to eat him." She called out and then looked back at the man.
"You are in Freakopolis, it takes a bit of getting used to." Silvia said and spread her arms wide before looking up at the artificial night sky. She blinked rapidly as another dizzy spell came on. She let it pass and wondered what his reaction would be.

“My name is Silvia, but they call me Fang. You are?” were the only words that Adam cared to hear, the girl’s cynical comments about him not being normal was something he chose to ignore. But what is this Graveyard Monster he thought to himself as the girl began playing with a rock. There was something about her that made him feel comfortable, and he couldn’t help but notice how cute she was with her little rock play toy, it reminded him of the puppies at the shelter. He was taken back a bit by the girl, and when he was just about to finally introduce himself, she tossed the rock ahead and it hit something then she called out to it, “Don't worry you stupid human, the Graveyard Monster is not going to eat him.”
Adam was utterly confused, once Silvia was done welcoming him he finally took the chance to speak. “I’m Adam!” he thought more would come out, but that was all that came to mind. He paused for a moment, not too long though; he didn’t want the situation to become awkward even though he was so confused. He followed up his unneeded pause with, “What is the Graveyard Monster? And who did you call out to?” He was about to give her the opportunity to answer, when he looked down and noticed he still wasn’t wearing any clothes. Suddenly and in quite an embarrassed tone he burst out, “Wait! Do you have any clothes for me?” Okay so maybe Adam did like this girl, but after that display it was probably hopeless. Then again you never know…

“I’m Adam!” The young male said and the seventeen year old nodded once. Her 5 foot 2 inches was making him seem large, she had to tilt her head all the way back to see his face. Hmm, not bad...but she chose not to notice his state of undress. She waited patiently for him to speak and say what he wanted to.
“What is the Graveyard Monster? And who did you call out to?” He asked and she let one corner of her mouth tilt up in a slight half smile before she shrugged. "That's their nickname for me, not that I actually eat people or anything. I am technically not supposed to exist, even in here. Or as others would call it 'classified'." She explained bluntly and looked around them as she thought how to answer his second question.
"That was a guard, even in here you're watched. But he was making sure I wouldn't attack you. I don't attack people while I am not using my mutation." She said with a small grin and noted that he had given her time to answer his questions. Smart boy... “Wait! Do you have any clothes for me?” He burst out in an embarrassed tone and she nodded again. "You should have been dressed in a silver jumpsuit, but I guess that they didn't have time. We have to take care of our own though, so you can have the one that I...borrowed from the guards." She said before grabbing a bag that was hidden in the grass.
She opened it up and pulled the silver suit out and gave it to him. "It's a size medium, let me know if it doesn't fit." She said and turned around, plonking herself in the grass while she waited for him to change into the suit. Why hadn't they dressed him once he'd been brought in? She shrugged it off and smirked as she thought of what this encounter could turn into. No way would she let him too close. No way.

There generally weren't too many people out here in the fields. So the fact that she'd seen the guards bring a new mutant out here to dump and then seen not one but two of the detainees go to greet him made her suspicious. Any suspicious activity should be investigated. Manisha straightened the outfit she'd gotten from Madam Weaver, thankfully she'd convinced the woman to make it similiar to her old combat fatigues, and made her way across the wide space to the scene.
The mutant that seemed more machine than mutant seemed to have fallen silent and most of the talking was between the new acquisition, a young man named Adam it seemed, and the wolf shifter. Manisha approached with a perfectly excuted march and came to a stop a short distance from the group. It bothered her nothing that the young man appeared to have not been issued the standard jumpsuit. Manisha had seen and made corpses before. Therefore if he decided to dress in the clothing the wolf shifter provided it would not phase her.
"Is everything alright here? I noticed the guards drag this young man out here and came to investigate."
The first lieutenant fell silent. It was not her way to prattle on uselessly. Such mindless chatter was unbecoming in a soldier. Many members of her unit had indulged in it a lot as she recalled. It was something she'd frowned upon but had been unable to stamp out. In fact the men of the unit had seemed determined to embroil her in their conversations. It had never really worked.

“I’m alright,” said Adam as he dropped the sheet after pulling the jumper waist high. He was still topless and mostly still wet, but he seemed a bit more relaxed. Adam struggled a bit with the sleeves, stretching and flexing, but eventually he got the suit zipped up. The jumpsuit was slightly too big for him, but he didn’t mind it was a jumpsuit after all. He straightened himself out, and brushed off some of the dirt on his hands and face. Adam looked at the Silvia and the woman that had joined them, and he began thinking this is not so much a dream anymore. ‘What if this is all real,’ he thought to himself, ‘What if I can transform into a monster as well?’ Adam decided he would roll with it, because fighting the situation seemed pointless, if it was a dream then he’d eventually wake up.
Adam wondered where he should start, should he ask them about their mutations and his, or about what happens next. Opting out of the ‘what happens next?’ question, because it was probably the more troubling one; he hoped in straight with Plan A. “So what are your mutations and where can I find out what mine is?” Adam asked it, but he wasn’t even sure of the words that left his mouth. Never in his life had he asked such a question, nor did he think he would ever have had to. He was a bit uneasy, on some level he knew his mutation was related to the beast form he had taken on before being brought to Freakopolis, but there was so much he didn’t understand. He didn’t feel any different, he didn’t feel like he could transform into the beast even if he wanted to, he felt the same way he has felt his entire life.

Silvia looked over at the other female and had an unsettled feeling wash over her. This woman was a mutant, Silva could smell it, but didn't know any other detail other than that. Her hazel-green eyes looked back at Adam once he'd finished wriggling into the suit. "Is everything alright here? I noticed the guards drag this young man out here and came to investigate." The woman asked and Silvia nodded as Adam said he was fine.
Silvia stood up and tucked some of her hair behind one ear. She had her hands in her jeans pockets, her oversized jumper made it look like she was bulkier. It wasn't intentional, she just didn't like form fitting clothing. "The situation is under control." She said in a toneless voice and looked over at Adam.
“So what are your mutations and where can I find out what mine is?” Adam asked and Silvia shrugged. "You'll have to wait for me to show you mine...it affects my body. As for you, you probably showed your mutation to the men with guns and then they captured you." She said vaguely before beginning to think of something infuriating; Sam, herself, males, idiots. That was it, chocolate brown fur exploded all over her body and she was forced onto all fours. Paws replaced hands and a long tail appeared. The proccess took half a minute and once it was finished a wolf that was a larger size than natural.
Her eyes scanned the area and her ears pricked, she was on full alert. "So, what do we do now?" She asked as she looked at the other two mutants.

"First Lieutenant Manisha Lina Kapoor of the United States Army. I have been forbidden from revealing my mutation to anyone without proper security clearance."
The answer was clear cut. Manisha was in fact forbidden from revealing her mutation. She was in fact quite the secret. It wasn't something she was proud of. Rather it was a simple fact. Very few in the Army knew of her existance or that of her unit. The woman watched the other mutant shift from human to wolf without an iota of shock on her face. She contemplated the question posed for a moment or two before answering.
"I suggest we find somewhere a bit less exposed where we can answer any other questions Mr. Adam may have."
Manisha was already scanning the area for someplace that could serve that purpose. They didn't call them the open fields for nothing though.

Adam listened to Silvia’s words and then watched her transformation, and then he knew that they had to be true. He thought back on his nightmares of turning into a beast, and of the darts and men that had come for him. As processed the thoughts, he continued to listen to the girls. He was surprised by Manisha’s response, why would she need to keep secrets from people that are like her, but he kept that to himself. He didn’t want to get on her bad side, who knew what she could possibly do to him. “Lead the way, Miss Manisha,” replied Adam with a smirk on his face.
As they would walk, Adam would explain his nightmares to the girls and his thoughts that his ability must be to be able to transform into a beast, but also that he didn’t understand it or how it works. The truth is that Adam was very far from understanding it, he was at the start of the road to discovery, but would he ever gain enough experience to truly understand his gift. Freakopolis can be a dangerous place, especially for a mutant who cannot use his powers.

Adam's smirk went unnoticed by Manisha. The woman was wrapped up in her duties and too oblivious of human emotion to really understand any significance it might have. Instead she spared a glance at the wolf mutant Silvia and then turned toward Adam.
"Follow me."
It had taken several minutes surveillance but Manisha had spotted a small copse of trees in the distance that would serve their purpose. As she moved toward it she thought of all possible angles of attack and routes of escape it possessed. These things were part of her normal thought processes. All her training had drilled them into her mind. She had to be prepared at all times for any situation.
She hadn't been prepared for that psychic on her last mission though. Could it be possible that she had been assigned here due to her failure? No, she was essential. They must have sent her here to train for an upcoming mission. There was no other reason that made sense.

"First Lieutenant Manisha Lina Kapoor of the United States Army. I have been forbidden from revealing my mutation to anyone without proper security clearance." Well this woman wasn't much of a talker now was she? Oh well...at least said woman had told them a little bit about herself. But Silvia wasn't one to speculate so she just listened for the moment.
"I suggest we find somewhere a bit less exposed where we can answer any other questions Mr. Adam may have." Manisha suggested and Silvia nodded her large chocolate brown furred head once in agreement. "That's fine with me." She said calmly and watched the surrounding clearing. “Lead the way, Miss Manisha.” Adam said and Silva laughed as he smirked.
"Follow me." Manisha said and Silvia stepped forwards with her large paws, often glancing at Adam to check that he was keeping up. If she thought that he was lagging behind she would stop moving forwards and wait for him. "Careful Adam, the Graveyard Monster eats the slower mutants around here." Silvia teased before wagging her tail, trying to let him know that she was joking...mostly. Hey, the boy at the bus stop was calling her names! He bothered her, and the big brown wolf ate him....it was self denfense. Mostly.

"Careful Adam, the Graveyard Monster eats the slower mutants around here." Adam took the words as a joke, but he didn’t dare fall behind the pack. He loved animals, but this was a bit different. She was scary and she could talk. As they walked Adam continued his explanation of his capture and how he had turned into a beast. As he spoke he took note of the reactions and expression displayed by the two girls, he was still unsure how they would take to his mutation. After all he was still quite unsure himself of his mutation himself, he had no idea how it happened or how to activate it. It seemed so unreal that he was not sure if it even happened at all.
After walking for some time, Adam saw in the distance the group of trees Manisha was leading them to. She seemed so together, fully what he would have expected of someone in uniform. As they finally arrived at the tree outpost, Adam began his inquiry, “So now that I have told you my story about transforming into a Beast and being captured by the men with darts. How it all started, the transformation that it, when I hit the dog in the street, but now I want to control it? In this place, I will need to be able to control it… Can you help me?”

Manisha listened to Adam's explanation in silence as they walked. To transform into a beast...it was quite an ability. His uncertainty was an issue but if he could harness it he'd be well suited to surviving among the inmates here. When they arrived she checked around the thicket for escape routes and possible surveillance. Manisha thought over his question. She could understand his wish to control his transformation. A thing like that one would be desperate to have under one's sway. However her own ability was mental, not physical. Manisha had no idea how she would go about training one to use a physical ability, let alone a transformation.
"Ms. Silvia would be more appropriate for teaching you such things."
Once the woman was satisfied that the thicket was safe she turned and looked at the other two. Her goal here at Freakopolis had not been told to her. Therefore she could not become overly friendly with any of the inmates. Treat everyone as a possible enemy. Learn about them but do not care about them. Still, as a mutant she wished the boy luck. He'd need it.
