[Open.] With a satisfying snap another beautiful tree fell from its perch, swishing remorsefully with its branches before crashing to the ground. The fruit that had been sitting in it's highest branches, mocking those below who couldn't reach, popped off the tree to congregate in small masses below the leaves.
Sulley stooped to snatch up today's pick, focusing his sharpness away from his arm and back into his hair. If he had a basket he probably would have gathered up the rest of the fruit, but since he didn't he instead decided to sit on the tree's stump and eat his reward.
It was nice outside today. At least it seemed so. The sky was a vibrant blue with few clouds, and the playful breeze pushed fresh scents of a fading summer through the air.
Raze grunted appreciatively at his food and took another large bite, chewing slowly to savor the taste. Two more trees like the last lay against the ground on their sides. There was no trace of any tool he might have used to bring them down, and even he looked unruffled. As it was, anyone just recently approaching would have no reason to suspect that he was the culprit.
Instead, Sulley resembled the squirrel that comes along to snatch up the acorn after the wind's done its work on the branches.

The day had been going quite well, the fake sun was shining, the fake breeze was gently blowing through the fruit trees of the orchard. Jackie had never spent much time there, but she had grown fond of the trees. She often liked to climb to the top of the trees, to gaze out at the rest of this city that she had grown accustomed to. Today had been an orange tree. The bright citrus fruit was growing in well, but not quite ripe just yet. A few orange blossoms still hung to the branches, clinging for their last bit of life before the fruit grew too big to hold petals anymore. She liked to inhale the sweet tangy fragrance of the barely ripe oranges and liked to think that the smell stayed on her for the rest of the day.
But while she was there, she had noticed that three trees had fallen with fairly large crashes. No sounds of machinery, but still the trees had fallen. Her curiosity peaked when the second one fell, so naturally she kept watching. The third fell, and goddamn it she couldn't stop herself from going to check it out. She hopped down from the tree, rolling at the dismount. She walked briskly through the orchard, looking for the origin of the sounds.
She slowed down as she saw the fallen trees in her path. She climbed over them, crushing the branches under her feet. After nearly falling a few times, she was able to see who it was that was cutting down these trees without a chainsaw. She had seen him around 'Freakopolis' a few times, but it was only his face that was familiar. Again, her curiosity got her. "Hey, what's up with cutting down the trees? Could've just picked the fruit instead..." she said, looking around at the fallen fruit. If no one picked them up soon, they were going to go bad fast.

Sulley tilted his head to the side as he picked up on footsteps. They weren't fast or heavy, so he didn't feel immediately threatened. The gait seemed like a woman's, he thought, because it was a bit bouncy in the way that most women--at least those with hips--walked. He concentrated on his fruit, pretending not to hear the clumsy falls. She was probably and embarrassed. He half expected her to wander away.
Sulley froze mid-chew as she spoke.
Freakopolis was a dangerous place. You never knew who could do what until it was too late, usually. People didn't have name tags. No one walked around with signs saying 'I fart bombs!' above their heads. It could be a dog-eat-dog world with so many dangerous beings cooped up in the same place. That was one of many reasons why he had to get out of this cess pool.
On top of that, some mutants were just plain weird.
"Why does it matter?" Sulley stood and turned to face the woman, tossing the seed to the side. He eyed her as he wiped the juice off his hands and onto his body suit. Ah yes, Madam Weaver had blessed him with a full-body piece of art to work with his mutation.
Sulley grunted and turned to the trees, seemingly dismissing the girl's presence altogether. He focused his sharpness on his arms and set to work on the trunks.
"We need fire wood. And they're supposed to be sending someone along to gather the fruit." He made quick work of the first tree, segmenting the thickest pieces into manageable sizes for a wheelbarrow...that would be coming later too. "You can have some if you want." Sulley said offhandedly as he stood to observe his work, focusing the sharpness after from the back of his hand so he could wipe his mouth.

It was confusing. Curtis couldn't remember the last time he'd been so alarmed when he'd woken up. Especially when he found himself in a jumpsuit, his backpack and hoodie gone. And his arm and leg bandaged along with his forehead. He couldn't help but groan loudly as pain throbbed though his wounds. He couldn't remember exactly what had happened last. Only that he had been eating a burger...
As he thought of food his stomach rumbled loudly making him realizing the hunger clawing at his insides. Slowly, with a grunt, Curtis sat up. He moaned again closing his eyes as he felt what must have been caked blood under the bandage crack. Slowly Curtis looked around with a blink. A forest? How did he end up here? He tended to stay in cities or towns. He hadn't been out of Florida for goodness sake!
Thoughts raced through his mind as he stood up stretching out his stiff limbs. Lightly he rolled his shoulders as he thought of how he'd gotten here.
Then it hit him...
Freakopolis?
How? How could he have gotten caught.
Curtis leaned on a tree to keep himself upright. He wasl ocked away with the dangerous muntants now. But was he so different? He'd killed a person before... Two people.
No he couldn't think about that. Curtis began moving. he didn't know what direction but he began moving. He needed to find a fence. Something he could hop. He didn't know how good the guards were but he'd been in a couple fights when he was in Highschool and hopefully that would help him. He couldn't risk using his mutation. Blood loss wouldn't help him escape.
As these thoughts ran through his mind Curtis felt his foot hit something making him blink. Looking down he saw it.
" Food.... " he moaned out before falling down to his knees. He diodn't care if anyhting had touched it, he just began devouring it. Then to the next piece of frunit he found, each downed in thirty seconds or so. Of course he didn't realize to people were not twenty feet away from him as he ate.
(The way I put it. Curtis was dropped off in the forest. His memory is a little fuzzy do to the pistol whip)

ooc: do you guys mind if I join?
Ripley jogged through the trees and appreciated the fact that Madam Weaver had made replicas of the clothes that she had before being captured. She slowed to a walk as she heard the loud thud of a tree being felled. Liliana was on her guard after that, no sense in being killed within her first month here right? Wherever 'here' was anyway. It was called Freakopolis, figures. The seventeen and a half year old pulled the hood of her black hoodie back up over her ink black hair. The silver streaks shimmered slightly and the dog tags that the guys with guns had insisted she wear around her neck jangled a little.
Her dark green eyes scanned the area and she shoved her hands back into her pockets. She brought out a piece of wrapped pale pink gum and unwrapped it before sticking it in her mouth. She didn't care if people throught that she was weird, the gum was for anger management...or at least that was what she had told anyone who asked. Liliana blew a bubble and it popped with a satisfying snap. She strolled deeper into the trees and noticed dimly that there were more of them around her now.
She heard a muted grunt and froze, one white sneakered foot poised in mid step. Her eyes widened in anxiety and she cautiously kept on walking. She spotted a bandaged up figure and stopped walking. The anxiety washed away and was replaced by calm silence on her part. The person looked around and she smirked as she remembered that she was probably hidden from view by trees. She then let her mind wander as the figure got up and moved about.
The figure falling to their knees on the ground shook her from remembering her brothers. She watched with an almost worried expression on her face. Liliana watched the other mutant devour one morsel after another. "So they dropped you off all the way out here did they? Interesting..." She spoke suddenly and walked towards the other mutant. The mutant turned out to be male. She let her lips move into an almost nonexistant smile before sitting down a few feet from the other being.
Her gum bubble popped with a sharp snap and she crossed her legs, like how kids were told to sit in preschool. Her dark blue jeans were very comfortable thanks to Madam Weaver, that evil silver catsuit had been murder. Her eyes followed the other mutant's every move, just in case he decided to attack her.

Curtis hadn't really expected anyone to be nearby. As he looked up, his mouth covered in fruit juice and pulp, he gulped before dropping his half eaten meal and scrambling backwards away from the girl. If he was captured it was a high possibility that she wa sa mutant, no matter how cute she looked. She could be dangerous, and quite honestly Curtis was slightly afraid of other mutants. But she was so pretty! how could he not respond.
" Yeah.... " Curtis said quietly. Gently he leaned forward picking up his half eaten fruit before takign another bite out of it as he watched the girl. He winced as her gum snapped before saying. " I'm Curtis... " He took another, smaller, bite from the apple his eyes never leaving the female.

Liliana almost giggled at his reaction, but quelled this as she noticed that he was pretty badly roughed up. Lily relaxed enough to want to look at the scenery around her, so she did. She looked away to fix her eyes on something in the tree tops above. A resounding crack was heard and she rolled slightly towards the male as a tree branch came down on the spot she had occupied.
"That was close." She breathed and sat back down again. " Yeah.... " The male spoke quietly and picked up what remained of his apple and began to stare at her. He took another bite of his apple before speaking again. "I'm Curtis." He winced at the echoing sound of her bubble popping, so she took the wrapper of the gum out of her pocket and spat the wad of gum out into the paper.
"I'm Liliana. Sorry about the gum, I didn't think they would stuff up your hearing too." She said in an indifferent voice before turning her head to look at him. "Nice to meet you Curtis." Liliana tested how both the sentence and the name tasted on her tongue, they were like silk. Her dark green eyes noticed that he was quite good looking, but pushed that into the back of her mind.
"How are your injuries?" She asked nonchalantly as she looked away from him again. She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye as he took another bite from his apple. She took the hood of her hoodie down and pushed her dark hair back from her face.

As she rolled towards him, Curtis couldn't help but stiffen. Her face only a foot or so away from his. Lightly he kept staring at her as she spoke before he nodded. As she stated her name, Liliana very suiting and yet pretty in his point of view, and apologized fir the gum " s'okay. I'm just kinda jumpy I guess. My heads still a little fuzzy from when they hit me I guess. " He took a bite out of the apple as she spoke again. She seemed nice enough. He examined the girl for a bit noting that she was attractive and her hair was gorgeous before pushing that to the back of his mind. More important things were occuring then hot girls right now
Curtis lightly smiled at her as she said " Nice to meet you Curtis. " and then she asked about his injuries. " Good as they will be for a while at least. I have a feeling the jerks didn't carefully remove what caused them though, so time will tell if I lose and arm or a leg. " as he finished the apple he let go of the core before lightly shivering before wrapping his arms around himself. He was cold and had probably been laying there for a day or so. Without thinking he pressed his arm against the girls closing his eyes at the feeling of heat.

Sulley stared at the girl for a silent moment before shrugging away from her. Lots of them were like that here. They'd approach a person and then drift into a world in their mind. Back in the day he would have been annoyed, but recently he'd learned to accept it. Not all mutants were sane. Oh, the irony.
The man lifted his head and spotted two figures nearby. One's face was familiar, while the girl could have been any old person. He noticed the guy--Curtis--was appreciating his cut of the day. Sulley couldn't help but nod, accompanying it with a fitful grunt. At least one other person besides him was benefiting.
With a quick examination of the surrounding trees, Sulley cracked his neck and headed away, planning to return to chop the trees up later.

Lily noticed that he had stiffened once she had rolled closer to him. Why did he keep staring at her anyway? He nodded and then after a while he spoke. "S'okay. I'm just kinda jumpy I guess. My heads still a little fuzzy from when they hit me I guess." He said and she nodded once before smiling slightly. He had takedn another bite of his apple at one stage and she noted that he was almost done eating.
"Good as they will be for a while at least. I have a feeling the jerks didn't carefully remove what caused them though, so time will tell if I lose and arm or a leg." He finished the apple and put it somewhere before wrapping his arms around his body. He pressed his arm against her own and she looked over at him, his eyes were closed. "Curtis, you're cold huh? Hold on a sec...'kay?" She asked him in a quiet voice before gingerly putting her arm around him and shifting him a little closer.
"I can take you to the infirmary if you want...you know, to get your wounds checked out." She said before remembering how close he was to her and blushed slightly. She'd never been this close to anyone other than her brothers and her mum. Her personal space bubble seemed to shrink just for this boy. "So how old are you?" She asked pensively, thinking he was asleep.

Lightly Curtis sighed feeling her warm arm around him. " I lived in Florida. Anything below seventy two degrees is cold to me. " he said quietly as he lightly rested his head on her shoulder. He was feeling warmer already with this strange girl around to help him. Curtis continued rubbing his arms usigng friction to keep them warm. " An infirmary?.... There are others here you mean? Like... Enough people to run an infirmary? " he was generally shocked but he didn't show it. He assumed it was only hi mand this girl, Liliana, before she said something. He didn't know why he'd thought that but he had.
" Almost seventeen... " Curtis said quietly before he scooted closer to her.

Curtis sighed and Lily half turned her head towards him. "I lived in Florida. Anything below seventy two degrees is cold to me." He said quietly and rested his head on her shoulder. her eyes widened slightly before she rested her head on Curtis's, at least on a part that wasn't bandaged. "They caught me in Colorado, but I lived in Australia before that...it explains my slight accent." She said and her 'slight' Australian accent was actually very noticable because she had spent twelve years there.
She noticed that Curtis was still rubbing his arms, probably to keep both of them warmer. "An infirmary?.... There are others here you mean? Like... Enough people to run an infirmary?" He asked and she smiled a little. She had thought the same thing when she had woken up, but it was easily rectified as she had seen the Cafeteria. "Yup, there is an infirmary. Of course there are others here, well you have to have medical training and stuff to work in the infirmary. But some mutants were doctors or nurses before capture." She said quietly before putting her spare hand in her hoodie.
"Almost seventeen..." He said in a quiet voice and scooted closer to her. "I am seventeen and a half..." She said softly and closed her eyes slowly. "Hey Curtis? You're so close that I could probably sit on you." She joked a little before opening her eyes a little.

" Colorado?... I went there once on vacation. And I like your accent. " Curtis said lightly. He glanced at her. Liliana seemed nice. And she seemed to tke an interest in him. At least he had a friend already. As she spoke of the infirmary he nodded a little. " I guess that makes sense.... " He mumbled lightly. He didn't like the thought of an infirmary being needed. That meant there were dangerous people here right? Well Curtis knew how to handle himself in a fight but if mutants had strong powers, and he couldn't use his own...
He was screwed.
" Maybe you can show me it later... " As she revealed her age he blinked. Well she wasn't thatm uch older than him at least. And then she mentioned sitting on him.
Curtis had never been smooth with girls before so he couldn't tell that she was joking. and thought appealed to him because of the warmth and the fact that it was a girl. So lightly he wrapped and arm around her wasit before lifting her onto his lap. He blinekd as warmth flooded through him. Lightly he pressed his cheek against her back.

Liliana smiled as he talked, enjoying the sound of his voice and the company. "Colorado?... I went there once on vacation. And I like your accent." He said lightly and she blushed a little. "Did you like your vacation? Thanks for the compliment by the way...you are so sweet!" She said in a gentle voice with that smile on her face, she felt silly...foolish even. Why was she being nice? This boy was interesting....
"Maybe you can show me it later..." He said and he seemed not to think that her age was surprising, sometimes because of her antisocial attitudes to others (not Curtis...ironically) they throught she was younger. "Sure, whenever you like. I'm working there temporarily because a nurse got sick." She said in a kind tone.
She then found Curtis's hand around her waist and she giggled softly. She was then put on his lap, she hadn't minded that he'd taken her seriously. He pressed his cheek to her back and she smiled a little. "You just touched one of my ticklish spots Curtis." She tried to hide a grin but failed miserably as her blush darkened a little. The warmth was nice, pleasant...safe. She liked it.

" Yeah Colorado's a nice place. Especially Aspen. " Lightly Curtis grinned at her his eyes twinkling with amusement. Gently he rubbed his cheek on her shoulder. " Ah figures. A nurse gets sick in the infirmary. Probably didn't follow health protocal or something right? " Lightly he chuckled suprised that he was enjoying himself. Even in a situation like this. After all knowing you were trapped in Freakopolis shouldn't be enjoyable right?
And then he heard her giggle.
"You just touched one of my ticklish spots Curtis."
As she blushed he blushed as well. " Oh really? " he touched the spot again before tickling it lightly rubbing his cheek against her back softly.
