Mara blinked repeatedly. Sulley, the man she'd generally thought of as a bit rude and not one for contact, had just touched her. More over in a friendly sort of way. Her contemplation on the matter made it feel as though the spot on her chin he'd brush was still warm even as she swept her eyes over every inch of him to try and solve the puzzle he presented. He was like the legendary Gordian knot but she couldn't cut this one with a sword.
Mara's eyes stayed with him as he spoke of murder in a way that made Mara sure that he'd either do it himself or been close to it before. Her gaze stayed fixed when he said that running was sometimes the smartest thing you could do. She let her gaze meet his when he turned toward her. Nothing could have prepared her for him smiling though. He had actually smiled! At her no less! She wondered if he realized how stunning he looked when he did smile? Probably not.
"You should smile more often." Mara suggested.

Sulley allowed the strain on his face. It felt...nice? No, that wasn't it. Relieving? Maybe. It was strange. His lips didn't seem to naturally assume the position. The longer he held it, the more uncomfortable it grew. This was different from grinning or smirking. Those two were pleasurable and easy, usually backed by malicious thoughts. This was...earnest. A shiver crawled up his spine, and as it left him it took the smile too.
"Yes, well." Sulley hardened his face and nodded sternly at Mara before standing. "I never finished my laundry." He didn't want to look at her anymore. He didn't want to be reminded. He realized now why she stuck out in his mind, and after recent events he'd like to be away from the memories.
Sulley wandered over to his laundry pile. He fingered the damp suit of his for a brief moment and then knelt beside the river to finish up on his shirts. The rhythm of his work was resumed again. His frown was comforting.
Mara's presence burned a hole in his side from her direction.

Mara watched him try to continue smiling. It obviously wasn't an expression he was used to. As the smile ran away so too did his seeming good humor. The Sulley she'd met that day in the market came back. As he walked off she could practically feel a cold wind coming from his direction warning her to keep away.
"I'll see you around then I guess." she said as she stood and began to walk off slowly.
Mara let her own somewhat haughty smirking mask fall back into place. She might be able to pry something out of him to help solve the puzzle if she turned around now but she didn't want to. If he wanted to be alone then she'd let him. Her thoughts fell back to the comforting screams of the men and women that caused this place as she killed them. All the confusing thoughts brought on by all those people fell away. In their place a boiling angry pit of revenge stood.
I can't let them distract me. Not the others and not Sulley. I'll get out of here and then I'll murder those cretins.
