Mara gave Maku a good looking over. Perhaps there was potential after all. She took a sip of her tea.
"Learn." was her reply to his question, "Learn about your mutation, what it is, and how to control it. That would be a start."
That part was never easy. Mara had had a devil of a time of it herself. She remembered the meet where her mutation had manifested. She hadn't known how to stop herself. The crowd assumed she was taking a few victory laps because she had won the meet for her team. In reality she just hadn't known how to put on the brakes.
While she let her words sink in Mara fought an internal debate with herself. Part of her wanted to offer the kid help. Another part told her that she was being way to soft already and to ditch the kid. She kept any sign of the debate off of her face as she watched Maku.

Maku grits his teeth. Learn... It wasn't as easy and learning Chemistry or Physics, not even close. He doesn't have a teacher or anyone to help him overcome and control his mutation. Maku was in denial, thinking about it. He believed it would be easier to never having to waste time and try to learn something he has no grasp on. But, he thought about it. He didn't want to cower in fear anymore, wondering whats lurking in the shadows.
Maku sits up, an looks revitalized. Passion burns deep within him, his brown eyes ready for an adventure. "How could I do all that. How will I be able to possess this ability?"
He wanted some answers for the future. He was ready. Maku stared into Mara's eyes, awaiting a reply that could change his life in this place.

Mara downed the rest of her tea and stood up. It had taken her some time to decide. Maku was an alright kid. Maybe he'd be a strong fighter in the future. However Mara didn't consider herself a role model or any kind of mentor.
"Danger is usually the best way. A mutant's power will generally jump to the fore when they are in danger or under a lot of emotional stress. Other than that, find someone to train you." she sighed deeply, "I'm going."
She figured the kid would be better off without her as his mentor.
"Come find me again once you've got a handle on things if you wanna get out of here. I'll introduce you to someone."
As the last of the mutants in the tent departed Mara tossed her cup toward the tray return and boosted it. It zipped through the air and landed in the bin with a loud clang. By the time one of the folks that worked the line went to investigate the noise Mara was gone and the cup had left a sizable dent in the tray it had landed on.

Danger.. It had an interesting prospect. But Maku was not close to brave or anything. But he felt that it may be only way. He nods to her, but moves to chase after her to get a last word in. She was gone before he knew it, holding his tray. He goes to throw the contents and place the dirty dishes away, noticing the large dent in the trays.
It was interesting and he was confused. But, like he came in, he walks out of the tents, looking for someone else to help him...
