Maku had just fallen asleep on the poorly made cot. It was shoddy and looked like it could give way at any moment. Before he got to sleep, Maku wondered if even the larger people had already broken their cots. It wasn't long until Maku woke into a cold sweat, yelling into the pitch dark night. He hasn't gotten a hold of this simulated world, and life has only begun in this new world. Maku realizes that of all the people, he seems to be the youngest. Unless, the children are inside to avoid being caught up in the malice of some other mutants. He would try to cheer himself up to remove his weakness, but his occupied mind focuses on something else.
Maku's fears crept inside him like a leeching plague, ready to grip at his throat and choke him to a sleep that would last forever. He brushes it off. He blinks, darkness in one photo, and darkness in the other. It wasn't just the dark, the fears, the mutants, no. It was definately none of those, but rather a combination of them all. He couldn't stand being here. Even if his old life was hell, this was purgatory. The words that leave the breaths of every speaker got lost in his head. Every thought someone had, jumbled into his own. I know this wall has a weakness... I think I need more food... Does Madam Weaver have my- Fruit is delicious- It's cold- This wind- Where is my head gone!? Maku screams into the darkness again, more focused on getting the voices to go, the ringing to fade, the white noise to dissipate and his mind to be clear. His noise is obvious to anyone nearby.
Maku suddenly realizes his loudness and remembers his door is unlocked. Maku scrambles minutes after yelling to get to his door, but, as he stand in the frame of the door, it slides open. The body in the door way unseen from the shadows that they cast.

Laela shot bolt upright on her cot. What was that noise? It had sounded like yelling. got up and slowly opened her door. She peered out the crack and saw a boy that looked like he was in physical pain from being here. She recognized his form but she couldn't figure out where from. The girl decided a cat would be less intimidating.
She changed into a calico cat with blue eyes and walked up to the boy. She purred and meowed a little, hoping she would seem like a real cat. She felt like she needed to help these newcomers deal with their problems even if she was a newcomer herself. Laela hated seeing anyone sad.
She remembered long ago when she was only 12. She had a cat that she loved with all her heart. Whenever she was sad the cat would come to her and lay on her lap. It always made her feel better. She hoped it would be like that for this boy who obviously needed calming.

Maku blinks, noticing the cat. He makes the math work in his head and he becomes a bit more distraught. He avoids contact with the cat making a rude tone, yet hushed, mostly from his natural shyness. "There Aren't Any Cats In This Place! Just Who the hell are you?"
Maku is flustered, and wary. He may even seem a bit rash. If all was quiet, it would sound as if thunder was bludgeoning over and over, repeatedly and swift, the sound emanating from his chest. Maku grabs something metal off of a counter and it looked blunt, but one couldn't tell in this darkness. But nocturnal could. Maku was shaking violently, he knew he should have locked his door- 'What the Hell was I thinking!'- And maybe he shouldn't have screamed. But now he has to deal with a Mutant, intentions unsure on his own end...

The calico used her puppy dog eyes as she looked up at the boy. She noticed that it seemed like it clicked in his head. "There Aren't any cats In this place! Just who the hell are you?" He said. She had been hoping he was so new that he didn't know that yet. She cringed as he yelled at her and cursed in her mind. She saw him pick somthing metal up. To the normal human it would seem blunt but it was actually very sharp. She cat-screamed and darted out of the way, not paying attention to what direction she was going. Laela found herself in a corner. She didn't have any choice. She changed back into a human as fast as she could and half whispered half screamed, "Wait! Wait. I wasn't trying to do anything!" She backed herself against the wall. This guy had something that looked very much like a knife to her and she was NOT going to challenge him... Yet.
Who's Who: Laela, Maku. Next in the order: Maku Comments: Makes her sound like she's afraid of everything. She's not. She's just afraid of the knife. Just so you know.

Maku blinks, shifting his glance to the metal... whatever it might be, and her. The girl's words pierce a hole right through his head. His left cheek twitches into a slight cringe. He sets the object down on the counter. He blinks into the dark, unable to see much. Just the outline of her figure is visible. Maku plops to the ground and begins to tear up. He chokes on his words. "What the Hell am I thinking?!..."
He winces at what he could have done with out thinking it out first. He murmurs something along the lines of, "God.. It's my first night here and I just about attacked someone. I really am a Freak aren't I?.." A simulated moonlight pierced the darkness. A drop of water glints as it rolls down his cheek. He holds himself, to make comfort. Maku wants to scream, he wants yell. He wants to live normal. But of all three of the options, he can't do any of them at the moment.
Maku whimpers, "I'm sorry..." He buries his head into his arms. The light of the artificial moon made some shadow and figures visible. The light switch of the room hangs precariously from the lamp above...

The boy set down the knife on the counter and Laela took a deep breath. He slunk down to the ground, then sounded miserable as he said, "What the hell am I thinking?!..." She heard him wince then mumble, "God.. It's my first night here and I just about attacked someone. I really am a freak aren't I?..". She could see the glints of tears coming down the boy's face. Then he said quietly, "I'm sorry..."
This boy was being driven insane by this place. It was easy to figure out why. She had known she was a mutant from the time she was 14, three years ago. She had had time to get used to the idea. She had known what they did to mutants so she had the mind to keep her mouth shut, but she thought her mutation was pretty cool.
By the state of this boy it was obvious he had just found out and was really horrified by the idea. It was probable he hadn't been alone when he found out and had been taken very soon afterward. Maybe he didn't even know how to control his power.
She walked over to him slowly. She pushed the knife out of his reach, just in case, and sat down beside him. "I was pretty scared when I first got here too. I barely had a clue what had happened, and I was scared, even though I was expecting them to find me sooner or later. I willing to bet your terrified of this place, am I right?" She said. She turned her head toward him and smiled a little."

Maku hears her shift and move. He crawls away from the sound of her moving. Maku also detects the sound of clanging of the metal object moving. He doubles glances, thinking, what was that I was holding?.. Was it a knife?
He notices her take a sitting postion next to him. He slightly whimpers fearfully, unsure if she picked up the object or not. Her words flow eloquently through his head, and the last few ring through him like a tolling bronze bell. "I willing to bet your terrified of this place, am I right?"
Maku was scared, it was obvious and always shook in fear. No matter where he walked, his hairs stand up on the back of his neck. No matter when it was, a paranoid thought clicks persistantly, whispering, "They're out to get you. Watch your back. We need to live." He would question it. 'We?' But listened, obeying steadily. Fear was his new life. He thinks often, 'At least I didn't have to watch my back at home...'
Maku cringes and tears up, he feels like he must spill his confession upon the floor like dropping a plastic bottle from a 2 story building. His words tremble with the slightest pitch flicker in tone, "I'm So Scared... Please. Tell Me What I Should Do... Please."
The door was still left wide open, the moon's rays piercing into the room. His words echoed out, not to mention the screaming from before. Anyone still curious could easily stroll in.

The boy said after a moment, "I'm so scared... please. tell me what I should do... please.". Laela thought. There really wasn't much you could do except accept your fate. However after a few seconds she said, "Well, the first thing you should do is tell me your name so I have something to call you.
The second is you should probably learn about your power. You don't know much about it right? Well knowing what your power is and it's limits can help you be less scared of it. When I first found out about my power, I experimented for a few weeks and it made me feel better, like it was even a little normal.
The third thing you could do is get to know some of the other mutants. Some of them aren't half bad. Take Darius for instance. He helped you adjust a little as well as almost everyone else here. He's the lead protector. He's really kind. Or Ava. She's the leader of the dreamers. She just feels that she should live life to the fullest. Or Sulley... well Sulley's kinda mean but you always have those types in a mix right? Don't be scared of everything. The truth is the world really isn't out to get you.".
She was amazed at how much advice was packed in there. After a minute, she got up and went to turn on a light.
Who's who: Laela, Maku. Next in the line: Maku Comments: Lots of dialogue not much action... Oh well. Sulley if you read this, it was my character saying your character was mean. Not me saying your mean. Your not. Later: OMG! I totally just realized that Laela just quoted Maku's thoughts XD! Coincidence....

"Well, the first thing you should do is tell me your name so I have something to call you."
He trembles. Does he tell her? It wouldn't hurt, he guesses. She keep talking, but he seems occupied in his own thought process, a few words seeping into his mind.
He begins to loosen his lips when the light flicks on. It was blinding at first, like a flashing burst in the room. He shields his eyes with his hand almost reflexively. His cheeks are rosy against his blended ivory and tan tone. His hair, short and clean, is a brown contrast to his face. His eyes aren't visible from his hand, and his hand isn't ready to return to his side. He didn't want to see the face of his possible killer. He still was paranoid and defensive, his skin's hairs are on end, goosebumps lining every part of him. Maku is wearing a pair of loose, blue shorts and his red boxers are fringing around the top. Odd colors, very conflicting. He has a white, sleeveless shirt, his body defined slightly by the close fitting shirt. He murmurs softly, as if to himself,"My name.. My name.. is... Maku"
He holds his knees to his chest and looks very defensive. The metal object still trembles on the counter from being moved. It's handle shows evidence of being a butter knife or spoon, but the tip looks like a poorly formed, yet thin Axe head. He bit his bottom lip and remembered some of her advice. " I-I.. don't know what my mutation is. I have no idea how to control my freakish abilities..."
It was the truth. He said mutation with a cracked tone and it seemed like fear. He doesn't reply to anymore, half-expecting her to say something.

Lalela flicked on the light and looked back. She saw the boy was shielding his eyes, "Sorry." She said. This boy, when he wasn't screaming his head off, looked like a nice boy.
She was about to go back to turn it off, when she heard him say softly, "My name.. My name.. is... Maku".
Maku. A good name. Original. It didn't sound like an American name. She didn't have to think of him as 'the boy' anymore. Then Maku added, " I-I.. don't know what my mutation is. I have no idea how to control my freakish abilities...".
Laela blinked in surprise. She had never known anyone who didn't know what his or her abilities were. Hated them? Yes. Loved them? Yes. Not known what they were? Never in her life.
She turned around and said, "Well Maku, that's the first step. Find out what your powers are. You can talk to officials, or I can for you if you want. After testing they know what everyone's power is. You could ask Madam Weaver. She's nice and she has to know what the powers are."
She remembered her first day here. She remembered missing what she had lost in her own life and a moment of grief passed into her eyes, but then it was gone again as she pushed her old life away, determined not to be more miserable then she had to be. She had totally forgot about the lamp.
Who's who: Laela, Maku. Next in the order: Maku. Comments: Kinda short. Kinda emotional too, but I usually have at least one post like that, usually my first or second. Be thankful I made it 9 posts. It could have been ALOT more long-winded if it had been my first or second post.

Maku felt a chill. Maybe it was just him, but the room seems ice cold. It was weird. He thought the system controlled the temperature and weather of the compound.. Maybe outside of Freakopolis it was cold and affected the inside. He couldn't be sure. As she spoke, his mind was elsewhere, picking up some words.
"...Find out what your powers are. You can talk to officials, or I can for you if you want. After testing they know what everyone's power is..."
'She said powers?' He was absorbing her words delicately. Powers... It was a curse, as far as he could see it. It was what put him in this place, and he can't even reach out to grab the 'powers' in front of him. He snaps at her rather bluntly, "Well. I didn't get tested. They threw me in here, and all they knew is that I had a mutation. It didn't seem like they cared, because they knew I can't even use it. They told me not to even bother seeing Madam Weaver unless I want clothes for protection."
He grabs his shoulders, placing both his hands around himself. Shivering. It was cold. He stared at the ground as if the girl wasn't even in the room. Then he thought about it. 'What is this girl's name? She didn't even tell me.' He blinks and then speaks directly at her, keeping his previous softness in tone. "You neglected to mention your name.."
He doesn't make eye contact, and shifts his glance occasionally to look at the metal object he just about attacked her with. It hung half way off the edge of the counter. He didn't know he even had anything like that.. let alone where he could have found it. It baffled him. But his focus was on the girl. Maku needed a name, and he was waiting for her reply.

They told me not to even bother seeing Madam Weaver unless I want clothes for protection." Maku said, with a bit of an edge to it. Laela didn't know what to do. "Well, you could concentrate really hard. Not on anything particular but just concentrate. If that doesn't work I'll try some else." She suggested.
"You neglected to mention your name.." She heard him say. Laela slapped her fore-head and smiled. "Wow. I really am stupid aren't I? I'm Laela Robbin." She said. "But I'm called Gata by the officials if you prefer that kind of name." Her words were full of poison. She hated the idea so-called, 'Mutant names'. She hated the idea of losing everything, even her name. All they really were was a device to make people forget who they were.

Maku finally looked up at her when she said her name. It echoed.. Laela... He softly smiles, his eyes reflecting some thanks. "Well, at least I know the name of who has been the nicest to me so far in this dreary place."
Maku shivered, before looking back down. He slightly disregarded her suggestion, not interested in his mutation at the least. He rubs his eyes with a soft yawn. He asks off-sidedly, "So.. What is your mutation?.."
He thinks slightly about his words, realizing the invasiveness and latches on to his last words, "If-If you don't mind me asking.."
He glances at the weapon again.. He couldn't put his finger on it, but it just seems out of what he would possess. It wasn't natural.

Laela saw him look at her and say, "Well, at least I know the name of who has been the nicest to me so far in this dreary place." Wow. He's had a really hard time here. She thought. "So.. What is your mutation?.." He asked, then added, "If-If you don't mind me asking..". That was an easy question. Unlike Maku apparently, she really loved her power. "I can turn into any animal at will. The cat you saw me as earlier is my main form, other then human of course." she said, slightly proud. She saw him looking at the deformed knife and wondered why he was examining it so carefully.
Who's Who: Laela, Maku, thought.

"I can turn into any animal at will. The cat you saw me as earlier is my main form, other then human of course"
Maku nods softly. At least she knows what she's doing. Maku points to the object on the counter, "What do you make of that?.."
Maku has a look of confusion toward the object. It's rough shape of a flat axe on a spoon handle, or maybe a knife handle was odd. Maku has a look of, 'Where did I get that?' He couldn't put his finger on it. But he stays curled against the wall, his legs hugged to his chest.
